4 days agoby lucille_zimmermanI love to observe people. I guess that's one of the reasons I'm a counselor. One of my favorite groups to watch and listen to are the elderly ones at the rec center. I love how they walk around in the locker rooms with all parts displayed, and they could care less what their weathered bodies look like. They talk about politics, surgeries, and shooting ranges. They're kind even when they disagree. And they kiss each other like they're never going to see each other again. I think they value the right things.

1 week agoby lucille_zimmermanI had already passed the car of the mom who was loading her four-year-old boy. He was letting her have it because she made him get out of the swimming pool. He was telling her what a rotten mom she was and how unfair it was. She acknowledged his emotions. She was firm but compassionate. She listened and made accommodations (saying that maybe they would do something else). She even tried explaining the rationale. But still he ranted.
